“Nobody suffers here,” Charles intoned. “Nobody is ever unhappy.”
“But nobody’s ever happy, either,” Meg said earnestly. “Maybe if you aren’t unhappy sometimes you don’t know how to be happy.” (Madeleine L’Engle, A Wrinkle in Time, 130)

One of my all-time favorites!
Mine too! I could read this book every day and not get tired of it.
Love, love, love this book!!! So many tidbits of wisdom.
Btw, have you started reading Anne’s House of Dreams yet???
I started it yesterday… and finished it last night! It’s my favorite one so far. I LOVE Captain Jim. And Leslie! Poor Leslie! I started up way too late reading because I got to the part where she takes Dick for surgery…. Aaahhhhhh! So many feels!!
It’s my favorite too!! 🙂 Followed closely by Anne of the Island. Those two are just simply amazing. Captain Jim is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. I absolutely adore him. And I so felt for Anne and little Joy. I cried buckets the first time I read it.
Oh, I know! Dear little Joy. I loved it so much.
This remind me of a whole different situation. The title I mean. And the quote too.
I haven’t read that book since I first read it in 1965. Wow, that’s 50 years ago! I really enjoyed it then and should probably look it up again.
Oh, Dad! Go read it! It is one of my all-time favorite books. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it. So good!
